Birthday Wishes


HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Margot Tomes

Margot Tomes, an artist and an award-winning illustrator, was born on August 10, 1917.  In 1963 she illustrated her first children's book, The Brave Balloon of Benjamin Buckley written by Barbara Wersba.  Margot Tomes illustrated over 60 books during her career.  On June 25, 1991, at the age of 73, she passed away.

Okay, so I had to go and look up the artist. But it was totally worth it! Her illustrations are gorgeous and so detailed. Thank you for sharing about her.

Today is my youngests' first birthday, so I'm glad she shares it with such a talented individual.

I wanted to be an illustrator way back when. Now my drawing skills have diminished but I'm a writer. SO I guess the universe is balanced out.
