Let's Talk Turkey

Later this week we will be celebrating Thanksgiving Day.  I thought in honor of the turkey that most people will be serving up on Thursday, I'd share some books that all have something in common.  They all have the word turkey somewhere in their titles.  I'll break up the titles by reading levels.

- Torey Turkey Goes Skiing by Gwyn English Nielsen
- Turkeys Never Gobble by Joan Holub
- This Is the Turkey by Abby Levine
- Setting the Turkeys Free by W. Nikola-lisa
- Ten Fat Turkeys by Tony Johnston

Ages 4 - 8
- The Turkey Ball by David Steinberg
- A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting
- Run, Turkey, Run! by Diane Mayr
- Turkey Pox by Laurie Halse Anderson
- Perky Turkey's Perfect Plan by Judy Goodspeed

Ages 9 - 12
- Turkey Trouble (Nancy Drew Notebooks #56) by Carolyn Keene
- The Great Turkey Walk by Kathleen Karr
- The Turkey That Ate My Father by Dean Marney
- Don't Be Such a Turkey! (Katie Kazoo, Switcheroo) by Nancy Krulik
- Swamp Monsters Don't Chase Wild Turkeys by Debbie Dadey

Young Adult (YA)
- The Case of the Cold Turkey (New Sugar Creek Gang Books) by Pauline Hutchens Wilson
- The Tale of Turkey Proudfoot by Arthur Scott Bailey
- Turkey Soup For the Rest of Us: Hilarious Anecdotes About Average People Doing Really Stupid Things by Peter Taylor

** I've not read any of these books, but I thought the titles were interesting.

Do you have a favorite book with the word turkey in the title?

Don't have a favorite book with the turkey in the title, but I just learned that male turkeys gobble - females click. I never knew that. I thought they all gobbled.

How about Amelia Bedelia Talks Turkey. I'm certain at least one of my little ones has read that one.

I hope you have a great day.

Hi Roseanne. Thanks for stopping by. Wow, thanks for sharing that information about turkeys. I also thought they all gobbled.

Hi Cheryl, thanks for sharing that book title. Sounds like a fun one.

Hi Corey. So cool! I always liked giving books to the teachers when my son was in elementary school.

These are great, Susanne. I haven't read any of them, but the titles are interesting. When I was teaching we used to do a play called "Everyone Likes Thanksgiving Except the Turkeys" that was a lot of fun.

Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Hi Mason, thanks for stopping by. The titles I've shared are only a small amount of the books that contain the word turkey somewhere in the title. There are a LOT more books that do. I was actually surprised.

Hi Beverly. I like the title of the play. I can understand why turkeys don't like Thanksgiving, lol.

Dear Susanne,
Thanks for listing the titles of books with Turkey in them. I have a story manuscript about a turkey that I hope to get published. It's good to know the competition. Thanks for helping me discover so many good stories with turkey in them.

This is cute, Susanne! Love it. And Happy Thanksgiving!

I almost hit two of them driving in Blue Hills the other day. They weren't fat enough for dinner though. Drat!

Wow! Can't believe so many books have Turkey in the title. I never would have guessed. Unfortunately, I can't add to the list. I don't think I've ever read any book with Turkey in the title, lol.

Have a great Thanksgiving.

I'm apparently behind on my turkey reading. ;)

Have a great Thanksgiving, Susanne!

What a fun list! I had no idea that many books had the word turkey in the title. I can't think of any books I've read with turkey in the title, come to think of it. My boys have "Thanksgiving at the Tappleton's" with a turkey in the story, but that's about it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Joan. I'm glad the list was helpful. There are a lot more books with turkey in the title. This was just a small sampling of titles. I wish you success with your story manuscript.

Hi Shannon, thanks for stopping by! Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Hilary. Thanks for stopping by. I'll enjoy the turkey tomorrow, but it will be a lot of work to get to the enjoying part of the meal. My husband will give me a hand with some of the preparations.

Hi Karen. I saw on your blog that you mentioned almost hitting Mr and Mrs Turkey. Might be a cute story there, minus the almost hitting them. : ) Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Cher, thanks for stopping by to check out the list of books. I'll have to look for some of these titles the next time I'm at the library.
-----------------------------------
Hi Stina. I'm behind on my turkey reading too. So many fun titles and I hadn't heard of any of them until I started making my list.
-----------------------------------
Hi Julie. Thanks for stopping by to check out the list of books.

I can't think of any. Turkey Soup for the Rest of Us sounds like a real winner though.

Hi Angela, thanks for stopping by to check out the list of turkey books. Of course, this is only a small amount of the books available with the word turkey in the title. It was interesting trying to pick which ones to share in my post. I can always do a new list next year!

Hi Stephen, thanks for stopping by. I thought the Turkey Soup for the Rest of Us sounded interesting. Sounds like a book to read when you are in need of a good laugh.
