Do You Ever Use TV Programs When Doing Research?

I am in the research stage of several different MG and YA historical fiction book ideas.  The topics I'm researching are; lighthouses and their keepers, haunted lighthouses, shipwrecks, civil war era, and railroads.
I'm reading books, looking for journals or record books, and checking the internet.  I will later contact librarians, historical societies, historians, visit museums, and visit lighthouses.

I've also found some interesting TV programs on the History Channel, the Science Channel, and local network stations, that all pertain to the topics I'm researching.  I'm recording the programs so that I can refer back to the information.  I know like anything else, I need to double check and triple check any information I gather.

My question to everyone is this:

Do you ever use TV programs as a source of information when gathering research materials?

Chocolate Books

Since s'mores and chocolate were mentioned by visitors in the comment section of my Marshmallow Books blog post (http://susannedrazic.blogspot.com/2010/07/marshmallow-books.html), I thought it only fitting to do a blog post about books with the word chocolate in them.

There are a LOT of books with the word chocolate in them, so this is only a tiny sampling of what you might find at your local library or bookstore.

  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
  • Chocolate Fever by Robert Kimmel Smith
  • The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling
  • A Chocolate Moose for Dinner by Fred Gwynne
  • The Chocolate-Covered-Cookie Tantrum by Deborah Blumenthal
  • Max's Chocolate Chicken by Rosemary Wells
  • The Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar Fractions Book by Jerry Pallotta
  • Max & Maddy and the Chocolate Money Mystery by Alexander McCall Smith
At least in this summer heat, these sweet treats won't melt in your hands!
