Wow - nearly 10 novels a month for 2011? That would definitely be a challenge for me...we'll see. But, very best luck to you! Happy New Year!

I wish I could, but I signed on to do a course with Alex Sokoloff. I do have a huge pile of books I'm determined to get through this year ... before I have to start marketing. Good luck to everyone who takes the challenge.

Hi Mason, thanks. It's a big challenge and I've got stacks of books to read, so I'm hoping this challenge helps me get through the stacks a bit faster.
Hi Donea. When you said 10 novels a month, I gulped. Yikes, what did I get myself into?

Part of the rules are that they can be audio, re-reads, eBooks, YA, Manga (don't know what that is), Graphic novels, Young Reader, nonfiction - as long as the book has an ISBN or equivalent or can be purchased as such, the book counts.

What doesn't count: individual short stories or individual books in the Bible.

I figure that since I read a lot of MG and YA, some of the books I read will be a bit shorter, making it a bit easier to reach my goal by the end of the year.
: )

No way can I read that many books, but best of luck to you. That's quite an accomplishment. I'll just read my one a week and be happy. :)

I need a good challenge. I'm on my way over to check it out. Have an epic New Year!

Stephen Tremp said...

I just checked out your link. Yikes! I'll try to read 26 books, one every two weeks. That's realistic for me.

Jen Daiker said...

Yay!!!! Best of luck! Last year I was able to read about 50 and I felt that was good considering it was my first year back at reading.

I think in a few years time I'll be up to the 100+ challenge!!

Stina Lindenblatt said...

I'm not aiming for an exact number. But I'm hoping to finish reading 2 books a week. Some, though, will be rereads.

Chris Phillips said...

That's tough. Good luck.

I think this is an awesome challenge! I am going to count the books I read this year, but I don't think I'm going to officially join the challenge.

Good luck with it!

Hi Janet, thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll share, at the end of the year, how many books you read.

I wish you luck in your challenge. 100+ books is a lot. Will you have time to write?

I also have an overstuffed bookshelf, with many books left unread. I do plan to read more this year, but I'd be luck to fit in 1 written book a month, and 4 books on CD.

Good luck,

Susanne Drazic said...

Hi Cher, thanks for stopping by to check out my post. Yep, I'll have time to write. Since I write MG and YA, that is mostly what I read. I have a lot of young reader books which have been collected over the years. They are in the guidelines of the challenge, so I figured this was going to be my year to get them all read.

Good luck on your challenge, Susanne! I keep a spreadsheet each year (yeah, I know...OCD) so I can keep it all together and organized by genre....

Happy New Year!

Mayra Calvani said...

Looks like quite a challenge. Good luck!

Susanne Drazic said...

Hi, Sharon. A spreadsheet sounds like a really good idea. I'm not that organized, but am working towards getting there.
: )
Hi, Mayra. Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog post. I think the challenge will help me get through the stacks of books I keep meaning to read, but never quite get around to. I'm already on my 5th book, so we will see.
