Please Don't Text While Driving

I thought that this was an important message to share.  I know that a lot of people text.  I know that there are people out there that text and drive.  Please click on the link and watch this video about why you should not text and drive.

TVKim- Watching: Kim's Picks- Don't text while driving

My friend makes her daughter put her purse in the trunk when she's driving so she can't be tempted.

This is getting to be a big thing. Over the holidays we drove from FL to NY and back, and at several of the state lines were big notices: Starting Jan 1, no texting while driving. Obviously a lot of state legislators agree with this.

Good for you for bringing awareness. It's not worth your life or another's life to text while driving!

Susanne Drazic said...

Hi, Jennifer. What a great idea. Thanks for stopping by to check out the post.
Hi, Jim. This is such a big problem. People continue to text while driving because they think that this could never happen to them, but it can and it does. I worry about all the teens and young adults out there who think they are so invincible.
Hi, Laura. thanks for stopping by to check out the blog post. I also posted the video link on Facebook and on Twitter. We need to get the word out to people. I hope that people will take the time to watch the video and then share it with all the young drivers in their lives.

Wow! Truly puts it into perspective, doesn't it.

In Iowa it's against the law. I don't like to even use my phone when I'm driving....If someone calls I let my teen answer or I ignore it.

Have a great weekend!

Well, I don't know how to text and probably won't learn so it's no problem for me. But I know people who do and have had accidents because of it. Hopefully they'll learn the risk before it's too late. Great post, Susanne.

Thank you for the reminder. The stories are sad. Now I'm going to go remind my children, who are both of driving age but always assure me they don't text and drive.

They should show this video in all high schools.

Thanks for sharing - texting and driving is completely out of control. And, it's not just kids, I see adults doing it all the time.

I'll be sharing this video.

Hi, Cheryl. Thanks for stopping by to check out the video. I hope everyone who has watched the video will share it with at least one or two other people. It will help get the word out.
Hi, Martha. Thanks for stopping by to check out the video. Thank you so much for helping to get the word out about this. It is very important that people be reminded about the dangers of texting while driving.
Hi, Colene. Thanks for stopping by!
Hi, Mason. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi, Sharon. Thanks for stopping by. If I have someone in the car with me, I have them answer my phone. If not, I either pull off into a parking lot to answer it or I just wait until I get home.
Hi, Beverly. I never thought I'd learn to text, but I did. This is an important message to get out to people. Thanks for stopping by to check out the video.
Kimberly, thank you for sharing the video with your children. It's an important message to share.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hi, Karen. Thanks for stopping by. This video should be required viewing in all driver's training classes and, I agree, in all high schools. Teens think they are so invincible, that it will never happen to them.
Thank you for helping to get the word out about this!

So very true. I work at a school and it is frightening to see all of the parents with their phones out while they are in their cars dropping off the kids.

I seldom carry our cellular phone. It's only for emergencies. I am all for giving offenders a huge fine tho. How stupid can people be?

Then one day because the roads were treacherous, I decided to take my phone. Lo and behold it rang. YES, I answered before I realized what I'd done. It was my son, so I told him I couldn't talk, and got off fast. It was shocking to see how quick I was to pick up. Not me, I thought! Now I understand how that probably happens to a lot of good people, and putting your purse or phone in the trunk is a wonderful idea. Kudos to you, Jennifer. And thank you, Susanne for bringing this to mind.

Would you believe I've never even texted before? My daughter does it a lot but never while driving. She does talk on the phone while driving to and from work, though, and even that scares me. Maybe the insurance companies need to get tougher with offenders. If they were able to refuse coverage for accidents where texting is an issue, then perhaps people would get the message loud and clear.

I've almost been creamed a few times from people texting. It is so unbelievably dangerous. Thanks for spreading the word.

Hi Suzanne .. definitely a message we all need. I'm still amazed at the number of people I see driving around with a phone to their ear, or looking down and texting .. it is terrifying .. and the result can be so sad ..

Desperately important we all remember .. thanks for the message - Hilary

Seriously! I am so with you on this.

Hi, Shelley. Thanks for stopping by to check out the post and for leaving a comment. I hope that parents decide that the children are more important than the phones. When distracted, anything could happen.
Hi, Joylene. I understand how easy it is to pick up that phone. That's why it stays in my purse while I'm driving. I can't drive and search in my purse at the same time.

If the call is important, whoever is calling can leave a message. They can be called back when I'm safely home.

Thanks for stopping by to check out the video and to leave a comment.

Hi, Talli. Thanks for stopping by. I hope everyone helps to get this important message out.
Hi, walk2write. What an interesting idea. I'm sure the insurance companies will eventually get around to doing that if people continue to text and drive.

Thank you for following my blog!

Hi, Angela. I was almost rear-ended by a guy in a pick-up because he was talking on his phone. People should not be talking or texting on the phone, they should not be putting on make-up or even eating while driving. I know that people are busy these days, but they shouldn't be doing anything that distracts them while driving because it puts themselves and others in danger.
Hi, Hilary. Thanks for stopping by. I hope that everyone helps to get this message out.
Hi, Janet. Thanks for stopping by to check out this important message and for leaving a comment.

I have a 4.5 mile circuit I like to walk and its dangerous just crossing a street when I have the right of way. The culprit: someone at a red light making a right turn and texting. I've seen people in the crosswalk almost get run over by these idiots.

Julie Musil said...

Wow, thanks for posting this and bringing awareness to this issue. My sons aren't driving yet, but I worry about other teens on the road. Heck, adults do it too. It's against the law in CA to drive with the phone to your ear, and people do it anyway. Scary.

Susanne Drazic said...

That's pretty scary, Stephen. Thanks for stopping by to check out the post and leave a comment!
Hi, Julie. More states/cities are adopting laws of no cellphone use while driving, but people still do it. Thanks for stopping by!

I can't talk on the phone while driving nevermind texting.

More than once I've almost been hit while crossing the street by someone yapping on the phone while turning the steering wheel with the other hand. And they don't notice until the last second that I am crossing and have the right of way.
