Synopsis
The school year has started, but the pigs have given up and don’t do their homework, except Smarty Pig who is working hard. When the others fail, she becomes their tutor. By creating games in their home that practice skills, Smarty Pig shows them that learning is fun and not just for school, it’s for life.
Review
Smarty Pig is a rhyming picture book with a wonderful message for children. By reading this book, children will learn the importance of doing their homework and of doing well in school.
The red haired piggy is a very studious student, while the other piggies would rather goof off by watching TV and playing outside. While the other piggies backpacks lay scattered on the floor, the red haired piggy is busy working on her homework. The other piggies even tease her, calling her names like “Smarty Pig” and “Teacher’s Pet,” but she ignores them all, continuing on with her studies.
When report cards come home,
all the other piggies are sad, but not the red haired piggy. While the others got F’s for all of their
subjects, the red haired piggy got A’s.
The other piggies finally realize they must change their non studying ways.
The red haired piggy agrees
to tutor them so that they can all get better grades. She tutors them in math and science, showing
the other piggies that learning can be fun.
This is a book where
children can learn, in a fun way, the importance of doing their homework. This book would be a wonderful addition to
any school library, classroom, or home library.
The colorful, full page
illustrations do a wonderful job of helping complete the story.

Oh, that sounds so cute!!
This sounds like a fun book. Too bad my kids are beyond the age this book is geared for although my biggest problem with getting my oldest to do his homework was summed up in 1st or 2nd grade when asked why he needed to do his homework and I told him he needed to show the teachers they did their job of teaching him and he replied simply "Why do I need to do homework when I alread know this stuff." Enough said. Very intelligent child. My youngest, now a junior in high school, is pretty much throwing his life away by not doing homework and participating in class like he should but I've totally stopped bothering him; figured it's his life and he'll find out the hard way that homework and school are very important. I hope this book does well. It sounds like a very good one for children, and if the cover reflects the illustrations inside, they too will appeal to the very young.
