  1. Most of these tips are good, but I really disagree w/ #7 on the 10 list. Lots of people have fairly trafficed blogs who post only a couple of times a week. But even if you don't have a huge following, you can learn a lot from blogging and I'd never suggest anyone just give it up all together because they don't have comments or followers.

  2. Some great tips in those links. I've found that visiting other blogs and using good pictures are the best ways to increase traffic. But it's sure true what they say about Rome!

  3. Hi Beth! Thank you for sharing your thoughts about #7 under the 10 Smart Ways ... link. I agree with you on that one. I hope that no one stops blogging because they don't have a lot of comments or followers. It takes time to build up a following.

My take on that suggestion would be to blog at least once a week, so people know to come back and check for a weekly post. If someone is only posting once or twice a month, people may not want to keep coming back to only find there are no new blog posts. Just my thoughts. I've been blogging over two years and I still have a LOT to learn about the blogging world. : )

    Have a fantastic week!

  4. Hi Janet! Thanks for stopping by to check out the post and the links. There are some good suggestions. There are some ideas that may not fit everyone's needs. That's what is great about this. Everyone can look the ideas over and use what they think will work for them.

    Have a great day!

  5. Thanks Susanne for the links. I'll check them out now. With the A to Z Challenge approaching I'm looking to meet some new people out there in Blogdom.

  6. Thanks for these, Susanne. I try to blog at least twice a week. Even though few comment the stats show over 100 to 300 page views a day. For me, I think that's good though I know others get a lot more. Just keep on keeping on. :)

  7. I'm no expert, and I haven't looked at the links yet, but the way I find new traffic is to participate in blog parties/hops and memes. I only participate in ones that sound fun, and don't do it to get traffic, but it does tend to work that way. Fun and increased traffic! What more could you ask for?

  8. I liked the 10 list better than the 25, which seemed all about Link link link. When I started my blog, I posted daily and then sought out other blogs like mine to make connections. I've cut back a lot, only posting 2 or 3 times a week, and I must admit some of those posts are dashed off rather thoughtlessly. I also don't visit as much as I used to or would like. And I must add: I love the look of your blog! It's very clean and inviting.

  9. The sure fire way to get comments is to leave comments.

Also leave questions for visitors to answer. It's a great way of opening up discussion.

  10. Hi Stephen! I hope you find some ideas that work for you. The A to Z Challenge is only a couple of weeks away. Yikes! I need to get some more work done on my posts.

Hi Beverly! That is AWESOME that you are getting 100 to 300 page views a day! Keep up what you are doing, because it is working. Have a great day.

Hi Shannon! Yep, I agree with you. I only participate in the blog hops/parties that I think will be fun. I participated in a Christmas one that was lots of fun! This in my first year doing the A to Z Challenge. Last year I read posts that others had done for the challenge and everyone was having such a great time that I jumped on the band wagon this year.

  11. Good post! I've heard that being a guest on someone else's blog is a great way to bring in traffic, especially if the blog has a substantial following (of course include a link to your own blog in the post) .

  12. Thank You Susanne for this information, it should be very helpful.

  13. I think you have to visit blogs to get blog traffic, to be honest. (Unless you are super famous or something.) The less time I have to visit other people's blogs and comment, the less comments I receive...which I am assuming relates to traffic.

However, I have given up worrying about such things. I simply post the things I need to post (because I want to), visit and comment when I can, and what will be, will be.

First an foremost must be the actual writing...(oh, and, uh, the day job!)

  14. Thanks for the links! I agree with your suggestions, and Shannon's tip about blog hops. There's no rhyme or reason why I have more visitors one week than another. The uncertainty helps keep me on my toes! Julie

  16. For anyone who thinks you have to post a lot, I always recommend Anne R. Allen's blog http://annerallen.blogspot.com/2012/03/when-should-author-hire-editor-how-to.html In this link, she shares how how her once a week (on Sunday) blog averages 12k hits a month. I think it's what works best for you. In this land of many voices, it doesn't hurt to be unique (once a week, etc). I'm looking forward to the A to Z challenge to meet new folks. First, I need to get my posts all finished. :)

  17. Hi KarenG! Thanks for stopping by to share your thought on the links. I've currently been posting about once a week, but will be posting 6 times a week (at least in April) when the A to Z Challenge starts. Then I'm not sure after that how often I will post.

I understand about the posting thing. I feel that some of my posts are not what I know they could be. There is so much to do in a day, but not enough hours to accomplish everything. : )

Glad you like the look of my blog. Thanks and have a wonderful day!
