Blogging From A to Z Challenge - U

This will be a walk down memory lane, so to speak. The majority of the books I will be blogging about were acquired during my son's childhood. I will be blogging about children's, MG, and Tween books that are on the bookshelves, with a few being found on the Kindle for PC. The titles will either have words that correspond with the letter of the day, will be on a topic that corresponds with the letter of the day or both. As I'm finding a couple of the letters a bit challenging, I may need to borrow a book or two from the library to complete the challenge.

Today is Tuesday, April 24th.  It is the 21st day of the Blogging From A to Z Challenge.  Today's word is Up.  Today's letter is U.

Falling Up

Poems and drawings by Shel Silverstein

As mentioned in another post, my son has acquired several Shel Silverstein books.  This particular book was a gift from his father and myself.

My favorite Shel Silverstein poem is Hug O' War.  I have a framed copy of it hanging on the wall above my writing desk.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:  Do you have a favorite Shel Silverstein poem?

I recite "The Hat" from time to time. I memorized "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout" when I was in 4th grade and can still do most of it. We had a poetry party and I remember most of the poems were by Shel. Love him, love his poems. They are pure joy.

I like the knock knock joke with the Exactly What and Me Who. I don't remember which book it's in. My son makes me read it at least ten times when we pull out the book!

I love Shel Silverstein! I can't think of a favorite off the top of my head, though.

Hi Hilary! If I'm having a bad day, all I have to do is read a couple of Shel Silverstein's poems and I'm smiling.

I love Shel Silverstein. The poems are whimsical and a great way to introduce children to poetry. Hug o'War has always been one of my favorites.

I love Shel Silverstein's books. When I was little, I read them over and over. And over. I don't remember the title, but the one with the kid who pretended he was sick until he realized it was Saturday.
