Blogging From A to Z Challenge - U

This will be a walk down memory lane, so to speak. The majority of the books I will be blogging about were acquired during my son's childhood. I will be blogging about children's, MG, and Tween books that are on the bookshelves, with a few being found on the Kindle for PC. The titles will either have words that correspond with the letter of the day, will be on a topic that corresponds with the letter of the day or both. As I'm finding a couple of the letters a bit challenging, I may need to borrow a book or two from the library to complete the challenge.

Today is Tuesday, April 24th.  It is the 21st day of the Blogging From A to Z Challenge.  Today's word is Up.  Today's letter is U.

Poems and drawings by Shel Silverstein

As mentioned in another post, my son has acquired several Shel Silverstein books.  This particular book was a gift from his father and myself.

My favorite Shel Silverstein poem is Hug O' War.  I have a framed copy of it hanging on the wall above my writing desk.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:  Do you have a favorite Shel Silverstein poem?

  1. I recite "The Hat" from time to time. I memorized "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout" when I was in 4th grade and can still do most of it. We had a poetry party and I remember most of the poems were by Shel. Love him, love his poems. They are pure joy.

  4. I like the knock knock joke with the Exactly What and Me Who. I don't remember which book it's in. My son makes me read it at least ten times when we pull out the book!

  12. I love Shel Silverstein. The poems are whimsical and a great way to introduce children to poetry. Hug o'War has always been one of my favorites.

  13. I love Shel Silverstein's books. When I was little, I read them over and over. And over. I don't remember the title, but the one with the kid who pretended he was sick until he realized it was Saturday.
