This will be a walk down memory lane, so to speak. The
majority of the books I will be blogging about were acquired during my son's
childhood. I will be blogging about children's, MG, and Tween books that are on
the bookshelves, with a few being found on the Kindle for PC. The titles will
either have words that correspond with the letter of the day, will be on a
topic that corresponds with the letter of the day or both. As I'm finding a
couple of the letters a bit challenging, I may need to borrow a book or two
from the library to complete the challenge.
Today is Friday, April 27th. It is the 24th day of the Blogging From A to Z Challenge. Today's letter is X.
by Maureen Kushner
Illustrated by Sanford Hoffman
Genre: Humor
Paperback, Published September 1999
What? According to my challenge theme, this post is suppose to include a word that starts with the letter X? Well ... I do have a few excuses as to why I don't have a book with an X word in the title.
1. My dog ate the only book I had with an X word in the title.
That excuse might work if I had a dog.
2. I forgot that there was an X in the alphabet.
That excuse might work if I were three years old and still learning my A-B-C's.
3. I kept forgetting to go to the library to look for a book with an X word in the title.
That excuse is the truth. But will you, the reader, accept it?
Okay. I know. I know. I'm really stretching things a bit, aren't I? What can I say? I did use the letter X throughout the post. ; )
Thanks for stopping by and have an excellent day!

Nice x post :)))
Love your list of excuses. :) X is definitely the hardest word of the challenge, great job.
Your excuses are great and I can't think of one single book that starts with an X.
Hi Suzanne thanks for stopping by. Good post! Yes my eXcuse is....I slowed down on blogging, had too much other stuff to do. My story and I'm sticking to it. haa!
Thanks for the laugh! It was much needed today! Fun post! ~Angela, Whole Foods Living http://www.wholefoodsliving.blogspot.com/
Funny! Your excuses work for me!

I think it's just a given that x has an e in front of it!
So cute. :)
I almost had to use eXcuses like that. Don't panic. The A to Z is almost over!
You're eXcused. Originally I thought xenophobic but this morning that was just too depressing, so I went with X :)

I'm not familiar with an X-book. Perhaps, I could write a draft in May. :) Thinking cap on.
As long as the X is there, it's all good! :)
Love your eXcuses, Susanne. Excellent post and you win the prize, pal. *waving*
Ha! But you did pull it off very nicely. :D

Lol, I love this post. This sounds like a book I need to get!
hahaha Loved your X post. Thanks for the chuckle :)
I must say, I'm amazed at the word choices the blogging community have come up with during this Challenge.
There were a few letters I struggled with, "X" being one of them. Xhosa was suggested by a friend and that's what I went with.
For once I don't need an eXcuse, very eXhilarating.
Blessings in the name of Jesus, Geoff.
Hi Susanne .. the eXcuse book sounds fun .. hearing the excuses that people give is always extraordinary .. bet the kids love this book .. sets the imagination spiralling off ..
Cheers Hilary
I love the idea of an eXcuse book! It's nice to know you'll never run out of them! Have an eXcellent weekend too! Julie

Hello to all! Glad so many of you liked my post for the letter X. It has been fun to see what everyone has come up with for the hardest letter in the alphabet.
I've been reading through and enjoying your A-Z posts. This is so cute!
LOL!! eXtordianary! :)
My mum was awesome and would do anything for us. But she hated writing notes if we were sick from school. She was convinced that the teachers got together in the lounge and read the letters to each other. I laughed when she first confessed this, but now I see the sadness in it.
Great post, Susanne.
